Railroad Park

Railroad Park
After church today, I went to Railroad Park. It is Birmingham’s newest park named so because it is close to Birmingham’s Official Railroad Station. Finding a place to park was somewhat challenging. As a final recourse, I gave up and walked two blocks to the park. Men were busy building something even on a Sunday. However,  my struggles were not entirely  unproductive. While searching for a place to park, I discovered the Negro Baseball Hall of Fame. I suppose the builders had a deadline they needed to meet or they could have read in the Bible that some men esteem one day over another, but all days are the same to God. We need to take one day to rest.
It might have been difficult to find a park because many of the streets were blocked off due to construction. The city is building Condos and Apartments near the park across the streets from Region’s’ Baseball Park. Because the Park and the Baseball Park are near each other, I’m sure there will be inside parking made available to the residents. Citizens of Birmingham, good Luck finding a place to park once the buildings are completed. Maybe the city will build us a parking deck for the park goers.
When I started walking in the park, I saw fathers who had children for the weekend and mothers who had children every day. The children were happily playing on the gated playgrounds and the parents were talking on their telephones pretending to watch the children. Other park goers were taking pictures of the scenery and of each other. A few had rented bicycles and rode perspicaciously around the park. Mostly all of the serious-minded joggers had their telephone in their hand and their earphones in their ears. I suppose they were listening to their favorite music or instruction on how to jog correctly in the presence of others. They looked so intentional about jogging until I almost went back to the car for my phone. Then I remembered it was two blocks away. Oh, next time is as good as any. If I had gone back, it  was problematic I would return.
I walked around the park one and one half times then I got in my car and went home. My son had come by earlier and asked if I wanted to go to Sunday Dinner with he and his family. However, I had already eaten. He promised to call when they got home. I may have been at the park when they got through with Sunday Dinner. I’ll check with him tomorrow since I didn’t hear from him.
