Right You Are If You Think You Are

Right You Are If You Think You Are

As a freshman in college, I attended a play presented by the drama department at Tulane University written by Luigi Pirandello Called, “Right You Are If You Think You Are”. The hypothesis of this play was two individuals, a husband and a mother who both saw the wife as two distinct different persons. The husband said the mother’s daughter was dead and he kept up the pretense that his new wife was her daughter not to upset her fragile mind. The mother said her daughter was pretending to be someone else not to upset her husband’s feeble mind. They had both convinced two diametrically opposed groups they were right. In some cases you find people who believe to the death they are right. Many times both groups are wrong. In either case it serves no good purpose to debate the issue. As a Christian, one must believe God will work it out. There are just somethings our human minds were not meant to work out.
Enough said about “Right You Are If You Think You Are”. We have all been placed in that position at one time or another in our lives. I didn’t realize what I was doing at the time; however the story I wrote seven years ago, “How to stop a murder” read somewhat like “Right You Are If You Think You Are”. Often time people base their perspicacity on things that appear to be true but are not true. In this story “How to stop a murder” a young woman is denied the truth by her mother and a friend of her mothers’. The way they see it, denial is their way of protecting her. Anytime, the truth is denied- is just not the truth. Our right to vote was never given to us until 1967 because we were thought to be a people not intelligent enough to handle politics. Sometimes people actually think they are doing you a favor by hiding the truth from you. When eventually the truth comes out no one believes it as the truth. You just seem like a fool. It is best to let go and let God. There are just some issues only God has the right timing for acceptance. As a true believer, be ready to move when the spirit says move. That is my advice and I’m sticking to it. You may consider yourself to be the most astute person you know. In many situations that may be the truth. However, there are times, with all of our technological advances; we still must depend on spiritual guidance. It is still possible for humans to make mistakes. Machines will only spew out information we input. The only thing a machine can do is give an output of what information it has received. If it does not receive correct information, the results will be tainted and unreliable.
If you go to momma and ask her what to do about your issue, she will tell you go ask your father. Go to your father. he will convey that you direct your questions to Deacon So and So. Deacon So and So will articulate for you to direct your questions to Pastor So and So. Pastor So and So will say let’s pray. I think that is what you should have done before you started asking questions. Remember, your Pastor is a man of God. He is not God. Men of the Bible spoke to the people of God’s words, not their own words. God anoints men and women to speak to the people for Him. Moses gave the people commandments from God. We all do our best to keep those commandments. some are easy for others to see. We keep the commandments that can be seen. However, our thoughts are a little harder for us to keep in check. We may believe “She thinks she is cute” and guess what. She is young and cute! Just because you no longer display those attributes, there is no reason for you to be jealous. God knows what you need at the time you need it. Never jump to conclusions. Let God lead the way. He will clear up all issues on his own time.
