Why do I Continue to Write?

As many of you know, I love to write short stories and plays. When my boys were small, my husband and I attended a Baptist Church in the Avondale Community of Birmingham, Alabama. My husband’s Church was called Harmony Street Baptist Church. Again, I was writing for the women in the Missionary Society. In the play, the different
presidents (of the small groups) of the missionary society were discontented because so few people came to their meetings. Our group of young women were called “Matrons”. Whenever it was time for us to lead the night service, we often preformed an original play.
Once, I wrote a play entitled “HERE LIES THE DEVIL”. All of the missionary groups participated. In my play, a lawyer name Sister Love battled with the devil and won. The story ended with the combat being so humiliating to the devil and his delegation they just gave up. Sister Love beat the devil out of the Church and he has never been seen at Harmony Street again.
Of course it was just a play. To my knowledge, the devil was never there in the first place. When I rewrote the play I made the lawyer a man and now it is popular for churches to have small groups. In this scenario, Attorney Love fights with the devil for the soul of the leaders of small groups and win.
In spite of the fact, the original play was written for an all women’s cast, the subject matter applies to all backsliders.
