Trust and Obey

Trust and Obey

When I was a little girl, the choir sang a song called “Trust and Obey”. As a child, that was one of my favorite songs. That song stayed with me throughout my marriage.

With humans it’s the same. My conviction is, unless mankind has changed, your partner will do the right thing if trusted to do. He or she does not want to hurt the ones he or she love. His/her eyes may stray, but his/her heart remains steadfast. The quickest way to make your partner not care is to show the partner you don’t trust them.
Now about that obey. To me, that was just good song writing. When Richard said you have got to do this or that, those were keywords for do it whenever you get around to it. Obeying the Lord, yes I will. Obeying your husband, something you wives need to pray about.
I suppose I am so passionate about trusting your mate because he/she chose to be with you out of all the people in the world. As I have said many, many times, I carry the Laws of Moses on my key chain daily. I realize just carrying the commandments does not make one obey them. However, Jesus wrote them on our heart. I love Jesus; therefore, I love the commandments He wrote on our hearts.
Just because preachers, deacons, Bishops, four and twenty elders have been convinced one is a bad person, he or she only have to take it to the Lord, Jehovah, our God who knows all. The winner is not always the one who has the most accolades but the crown goes to the one who endures for Christ.
The one who will Trust and obey is the winner. In the LIFE Class at my church, someone mentioned a parent only has to call its child in the water at the swimming pool. The children immediately jump in because he/she trust the parent. As an adult, sometimes we don’t exhibit that trust. On some occasions, we hesitate. Before we jump on board we ask is it safe for us to jump. Give us some assurance.
I had a friend who went to a Christain Camp. She was asked to stand over a deep ditch and fall back. There were Christain Brothers there to catch her. She fell the test because she could not trust her Christain Brothers. All of the kids she brought pass the test. They had no problem with blind trust. I understood her predictament. However, God is always there. Our earthly brothers may get distracted. None-the-less we must trust that God will keep our earthly brothers hands so that they will not let go and catch us least we fall and hurt ourselves.
